Wallace Gene McGee, Jr.

Mr. Gene McGee, President of GMA, Inc, has over 20 years of experience working for and with local and state government in Florida. For the last 12 years, Mr. McGee has successfully represented a wide variety of corporate clients before the Florida Legislature, Governor’s office, executive branch agencies and local governments.  

Before founding GMA in 1998, he served as Legislative Affairs Director for the Florida Department of State, which includes the divisions of Corporations, Licensing, Elections, Library and Information Services, Cultural Affairs, and Historic Preservation. As Legislative Affairs Director, he successfully secured over $50 million in state funding annually for Cultural and Historic Preservation projects, passed the most sweeping elections reform legislation in a decade, served on the State Council for Competitive Government, and passed legislation reducing the corporate filling fee by 25%. 
While at the Department of State, Mr. McGee was appointed Director of International Relations and led the state’s efforts in areas supporting economic development such as protocol, sister-city and sister state activities, and consular corps interaction.   He was instrumental in the legislation that created Enterprise Florida and has served as an appointed Board Member of: Enterprise Florida, the Partnership on International Trade and Economic Development of Enterprise Florida, and the Florida Export Finance Corporation.  
Mr. McGee has also served the Florida Legislature as Staff Director for Policy in the House Republican Office and was instrumental in passing legislation aimed at forcing competition in the delivery of state services including creation of the State Council on Competitive Government and authorizing the use of private correctional facilities.  He was also a leader in legislation creating the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
Mr. McGee also served as Director of Courts and Records in Citrus County where he supervised activities in the area of circuit and county courts and official records.  While there, Mr. McGee oversaw a massive technology modernization campaign that converted the office to open systems computer architecture and pioneered electronic public access to records in the county.
Recently, Mr. McGee was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist, as part of his transition, to chair the Citizen Review team for the Department of Children and Families.  He continues to serve, in a volunteer capacity, as a board member and advocate for many mental health, substance abuse and child welfare organizations statewide.
Active in Republican politics for over 20 years, Mr. McGee also served as Director of State Senate Campaigns for the Florida Republican Party during the 2002 cycle and has consulted on numerous statewide, legislative, and local campaigns for republican candidates.
