David Daniel is a seasoned veteran of government relations, political consulting and public affairs with a proven track record of results. Having worked inside and outside the process in Washington D.C. and Tallahassee since 1994, he is an experienced and connected advocate with keen insight on how to meet our clients’ legislative goals. David’s depth of experience at the legislative, political and grassroots levels has consistently helped businesses secure wins in the Florida Legislature.
David’s strength in messaging combined with his experience and strategic visioning helps identify solutions and creates new opportunities for growth and success. Victories under David’s leadership have included:
- Increasing the threshold to pass a constitutional amendment to 60 percent
- Creation of a research and development equipment sales tax exemption
- Allowing private property owners to remove petition gatherers from their property
- Reducing workers compensation costs with attorney fees reform
- Making it easier for taxpayers to successfully challenge their property tax assessment
- Stopping employers from being held liable for slip and fall lawsuits when they are not responsible
Prior to joining Smith, Bryan & Myers in 2010, David served for six years as the vice president of governmental affairs for the Florida Chamber of Commerce. In that role he helped build and manage the organization’s highly effective legislative lobbying and public affairs strategy team, which secured victories against some of the state’s most powerful and entrenched special interest groups.
Originally from Brevard County, David graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Communications.
David and his wife, Kim, live in Tallahassee, Florida with their two sons.
